If you're looking for a job, it is more than likely that you’ll go to one of the various online job boards. Make sure that you attach a cover letter when you make your application. Why? This is the first real chance you get, before you talk to anyone, to actually sell yourself, your skills and your capability.
Here are some tips to writing a successful cover letter:
- tailor it specifically to the job you are applying for by responding directly to the requirements of the job. Don’t send a generic letter;
- keep the language simple and to the point so it becomes easy to read;
- use strong verbs that demonstrate accomplishments or actions for example; coordinate, manage, etc;
- limit the letter to one A4 page;
- proof read it and then get a friend to read it.
